The Hunter 30090 air purifier is a perfectly fine machine and although the manufactures list price is $120 you can easily find them for well under $100 online. It comes with a few features that you would normally find on much more expensive machines and it's stat numbers aren't bad either.
That's One Very Expensive Filter
It does have one drawback though and it might as well get put on the table first. That is that its filter has to be changed every about every six months and it costs between $50 - $70 per filter. Has it registered yet? That's in fact more that you can buy a whole new Hunter 30090 air purifier for?
Cheaper to Buy a New Hunter 30090???
If that isn't crazy enough for you then consider this. Each new air purifier comes with a brand new filter and carbon pre-filter in it. You see the deal is that the folks at Hunter decided some time back that they can make more money selling filters than they can selling the air purifiers that they go in.
Don't Change Your Filter for a Whole Year??
Now Hunter claims that their filter will last up to a year, which is does provide some solace. However; it really is hard to imagine a filter actually being left in any machine for 12 full months. Particularly if the air purifier has been doing a good job in a room that it was truly needed in.

Hopefully you get the picture of what a bad deal filters are for this machine. So then what about the actual Hunter 30090 air purifier? Of course it's a nice machine and to make sure you keep buying filters, it even comes with a five year warranty. It also features WisperQuiet technology on its three speed dial.
Filters the Air Six Times Per Hour
It's rated for a 12 foot by 13 foot room (about 150 sq. ft.) and captures 99.97% of suspended air particles down to 0.03 microns that pass though it. It changes the air in the room 6 times per hour, so it does move an adequate amount of air but its CADR numbers are only 100 for dust, pollen and smoke.
